High energy particles and gamma ray come from outer space is called "cosmic ray". Since cosmic rays have various information of the universe, we can study astrophysical phenomena by observing cosmic rays. My laboratory participates in the international cosmic-ray observation experiment and is researching cosmic rays. We are developing radiation detectors and electronics and I also conduct research by Monte Carlo simulation.

Resarch

o Tibet ASgamma project
Mesurement of cosmic ray composition
  We installed an air shower detector and an air shower core detector in Tibet (4300 m) to measure the cosmic ray chemical composition of "Knee region". We already have revealed all particle spectra, protons and helium spectra in this observation In order to measure the spectrum of heavier nuclei, we are developing a new detector YAC (Yangbajing Air shower Core).

oCALET(CALorimetric Electron Telescope) project

 

o Development of radiation detector and electronics   
Wide Dynamic range charge amplifier(WDAMP) ASIC
We developed a front end ASIC with a wide measurement range (0.1 fC to several tens of pC) for radiation detectors in cooperation with KEK and JAXA.

o Research on cosmic ray acceleration mechanism by solar neutron observation
o BETS(Balloon-borne Electron Telescope with Scintillating fibers),Polar Patrol Balloon (PPB) experiment
